winter foodTo strengthen your immune system and stimulate it to heal itself, you should consume what you have at hand and what is grown locally during a given season. Currently, at any time of the year, we are flooded with products from almost all over the world. Meanwhile, you need fresh, natural food, unprocessed food that is also produced in a geographical region that you live in.

What you eat should be influenced by the seasons.

Because every season of the year has products that only characterize this time period, they are adapted to the climate, and temperature occurring outside. Hence, they adapt to human needs in a given season.

Why? Because summer is hot and dry.

It is different in the fall. You slowly release energy and nutrients stored during the summer, increase your immunity, strengthen your immune system, and keep the body heat up. In addition, you boost your health with physically stored products and supplements.

Fall is the season of the year where infections, colds, and flues wait on every corner. Problems with joints, rheumatism and skin diseases are more susceptible to renew or intensify.

In the fall, you also have less movement, you spend less time outdoors, you have less access to the sun, therefore, according to one of the nutrition theories, you should keep your body slightly alkaline to have reserves to fight adversities.

In fall and winter, your nutrition changes, you eat a lot of vegetables that are either stewed, baked, seasoned, or spicy. You use more spices, herbs, Himalayan salt, and fermented foods.

We should additionally eat them with whole-grain products because then they nourish and strengthen your body more. If you have problems digesting grains, you can soak them beforehand or even use cereal sprouts. We must remember that cereals should always be cooked well. This also applies to oat flakes. It is not enough to pour only hot water or milk. We cook them for a minimum of 10 minutes. Why? Because, in this way, you remove phytic acid during cooking. And it leaches minerals from your body as well as causes different skin conditions.

Another question to think about is: where to find grains without glyphosate and other chemical killers?

For lunch, it’s best to eat more protein, organic meat, fish, eggs, legumes (we’re just talking about healthy, farmer’s food, and that from your own harvest, etc.).

It’s good to eat meat only twice a week, the rest of the time, vegetarian dishes are recommended.

In the evening you do not need so much energy, your digestion is weaker, so you should give the stomach and liver the opportunity to relax. They often work a long night to digest and cleanse the body of what we have accumulated during the day.

Therefore, for dinner, you should eat small portions.

It is good to keep a proper night break between the last and the first meal of the day. Optimally 12-18 hours. This will allow for better cleansing of your body.

At the beginning of the fall, some propose to use alkaline fasting.

It should last from 5 to 14 days maximum. Such fasting is intended to naturally eliminate moisture and toxins from your body.

What can you eat during such fasting?

During this fasting period, you should only eat vegetables (except potatoes and legumes), a lot of spices, herbs, fruits such as apples.

You can not eat cereals, protein, sugar, or fats.

I recommend that you learn more about this diet and apply it as needed.

In fall and winter, you eat more warm dishes, you drink herbal teas. Fasting on juices and raw vegetables can weaken your metabolism and at the end of such a fast, you may find out that you only needlessly gained weight.

It is worth introducing fermented vegetables, water with lemon, and water with apple cider vinegar. This will help your large intestine, in which bacteria, protozoa, and fungi accumulate. It is known that every product containing natural bacteria supports your intestines and seals them.

What can you drink during this period?

The best beverages are mixed herbal teas, fennel, anise, cumin, licorice, hot cardamom tea, herbal teas cleansing the intestines and liver, and reducing hunger.

If you decide to go on an alkaline fast, then after its end you must return to a varied diet consistent with the season, without the risk of dropping your body temperature in fall and winter.

Eat smart and intuitively this fall and winter!
