Why does the body crave something sweet, even beyond limits?
Even if you take sugar away from your diet, the body will continue to produce it. We have glucogenic proteins from which the body produces glucose. So, if you stop eating sugar completely, you will not lose glucose. Our blood, brain, and blood cells need it. But when you supply too much sugar, you cause the troubles and diseases by yourself.
If you eat a candy bar, lollipop, Coca-Cola (simple sugars), glucose appears in your blood very quickly. Suddenly its level is very high. Then we have a lot of illusive energy for a small amount of time.
What happens in your body then?
The pancreas secretes insulin to bring sugar to the right level. When it reaches that level, the pancreas still secretes insulin. Then the sugar level falls below normal and we start to get hungry.
You reach for another cookie and the sugar level jumps back up. Then the pancreas produces insulin and the sugar level falls. When you often have such large jumps of sugar level and when it is not stable, your cells become immune to insulin. With passing years, your problems become bigger.
Under such conditions, type II diabetes develops.
Notice that bacteria and yeast also use the same sugar you consume as a fuel.
How many carbohydrates do we actually need?
Carbohydrates are complex sugars such as bread, rice, groats, flour from which glucose is released over an extended period of time. In the case of simple sugars that come in drinks, sweets, cheeses, glucose is released immediately. We need a very small amount of carbohydrates. You can easily test it on yourself. You can perform the following experiment. For 2-3 days, do not eat any carbohydrates. After this time, measure the level of ketones in your urine. You can use keto strips for that purpose.
The dark color of the strip means that the carbohydrate level is very low. This is bad news for us, it means that the fats do not burn completely. In this way, ketone bodies are formed. Then, in a controlled manner, you gradually increase the number of carbohydrates consumed and the next day you will again examine your urine. When the strip is turning a lighter color, it means that the amount of ketone is decreasing. In this way, we gradually increase the number of carbohydrates until the test informs us that we do not have keto particles.
The whole point is to gradually come to a point where the level of ketones is so low that they are no longer visible. And that is our goal. This means that you do not need more carbohydrates, any amount larger than that could cause weight gain. If you run this test, you will be very surprised how little carbohydrates you need.
How to check the amount of sugar in different products?
First, check on the label the amount (in grams) of total carbohydrates.
1 teaspoon equals 5 grams of sugar.
So, 30 grams/5 grams = 6 teaspoons of sugar
It means that the product contains 6 spoons of sugar.
In order to find out how much sugar you give to your children, put 6 teaspoons of sugar into a 0.5 glass of water.
I don’t think that any good mother would give such a mixture to their child, and even a child would not drink it.
But 150 ml of yogurt, juice, or dessert contains just as much sugar as, so one yogurt can contain 5-6 teaspoons of sugar.
Check it on the package.
Look at the products you consume or serve to your children more than once a day!
Yogurt in a bottle (250 ml) has an average of 6 teaspoons of sugar, the same thing can be applied to beverages. There are also 6 teaspoons of sugar in 300 ml of fruit juice. On a hot day, the child occasionally drinks 3-4 bottles of such juice.
It is the same as putting 24 teaspoons of sugar to 1200 ml of water!
Such a comparison is scary, but this is exactly what it is.
I recommend reading the labels and paying attention to the sugar content, carbohydrates and converting it to the teaspoons of sugar.
What is a difference between Glucose and Fructose?
There is one more important thing. The white sugar is chemically made from glucose and fructose. Glucose is necessary for our bodies, but fructose is useless. Fructose is a white death sold in a crystallized form. Fructose bypasses the liver, and gets right into the bloodstream, increasing the sugar levels. This is one of the causes of type 2 diabetes.
Not many people know that fructose is metabolized in the body in the same way as alcohol. Alcohol additionally affects our brain functions, but both substances destroy the liver.
Fructose is very dangerous for diabetics. Diabetics are constantly lied to.
After the consumption of fructose, your glucose levels do not rise. Once measured, it is at a safe level. This is a false read, because diabetic does not measure the fructose level, but only glucose level.
When your food contains fructose, the test will not detect it.
The sugar level is rising and the measurement shows that it is at a normal level.
This way you poison yourself and your children.
You gain weight when you consume excess fructose. It is extremely harmful. It causes chaos in your body.
For some reason (we do not know why) your body is immune to insulin more in the morning than in the afternoon. It is therefore important not to consume sugar in the morning.
But most often we consume it in the morning!
In the USA, obesity is caused by excessive intake of fructose. It is also overused in the form of glucose-fructose syrup.
Read labels on the products because sugar is everywhere, even in meat products.
